Never force a friendship

Never force a friendship.
Never force someone to see you or to want you. Never force someone to like you. Never force someone to prioritize you or to invite you.
Never force something that isn’t there.
Never force yourself to be someone you’re not. Never force your integrity to be put on the line. Never tolerate lies, disrespect or rude behavior so you can force a relationship with someone who doesn’t value you.
Sometimes it hurts.
Sometimes you really care about them and it’s just not there on their end. Sometimes you want it so bad. Sometimes it’s easy to believe that if they just knew you, they’d love you back.
But you can’t force belonging.
It’s either there or it’s not.
And as sad as it is, not everyone who comes into our life was meant to stay in our life. Not everything is a lesson learned. Some things just are. And some things just aren’t.
And part of maturity is accepting that with open arms and an open mind.
Love them.
Be good to them.
But do it without expectations and without manipulations.
Don’t break your own heart hoping for more than they’re willing to give. Don’t be a doormat and don’t go around begging for scraps.
Hold your head high.
Know what you bring to the table.
Release your fist.
Let things flow naturally.
Let other things fade naturally.
And let what happens, happen.
Good things will come to you. If you keep a pure heart, the good ones will find their way to you.
So please never force a friendship.
Things that are forced tend to crumble at some point and life is far too short and your soul is far too precious to be left with shattered pieces.
You will find what’s made for you, but not if you’re holding onto what’s wrong.
