She Used to Lose Herself for Others, But Not Anymore

She used to be the girl who gave too much.

The girl who silenced her own needs just to hear someone else out. The one who would bend herself into impossible shapes to fit into someone else’s world, even when there was no room for her in the first place.

She gave her love freely, thinking that if she just loved harder, they’d treat her right. She poured herself into cups with holes, hoping one day they’d stop leaking.

She was the girl who stayed in relationships long after they expired because she believed in potential more than reality. She wanted so badly to see the good in people, even when they showed her who they truly were.

She forgave lies because she wanted to believe the apologies were sincere. She tolerated manipulation because she thought, maybe, this time would be different.

She swallowed her feelings whole to keep the peace, but inside she was drowning. She carried the weight of other people's shortcomings, thinking it was her job to fix what she never broke.

But then she broke.

Piece by piece, she realized that losing herself was never the answer. That love isn’t supposed to hurt, and peace shouldn’t come at the cost of her own soul.

She looked back at all the times she lowered her standards and moved her boundaries just to keep people in her life. She saw how it taught them to take her for granted and how little they gave in return.

And for the first time, she stopped asking, “What did I do wrong?” Instead, she asked, “Why did I stay when I deserved so much more?”

Now, she’s the woman who walks away.

She’s the woman who listens to her intuition and puts herself first. The one who knows her worth and isn’t afraid to demand it.

She won’t fight for people who don’t fight for her. She won’t explain her value to anyone who can’t see it. She refuses to shrink herself just to fit into someone else’s small world.

Because she knows now: the love she was giving to others is the love she deserves to give to herself. And she’s never going to settle for less than she deserves again.
