The narcissist can sense when you're gaining strength, fed up with their mind games, physically and mentally exhausted from them. It threatens everything they built their false self around. Your clarity, your boundaries, your refusal to be manipulated anymore—it terrifies them, because their control is slipping. Narcissists don’t thrive in truth. They thrive in confusion, chaos, and your self-doubt. So the moment they feel you waking up from the fog, they panic.
Suddenly, they might switch to kindness—temporarily. They’ll say exactly what you’ve longed to hear. They might apologize without truly meaning it, offer grand gestures, or even feign vulnerability. This is not because they love you. It's not because they've changed. It's because they want control back. They need access to your energy, your emotions, your attention. You are not a partner to them—you are supply. Fuel. A mirror to their ego.
But if they realize you’re too far gone—too wise to fall for their mask again—they’ll do the unthinkable. They’ll discard you without a word, abandon you like you never meant anything, go ghost, and vanish into thin air. No closure. No remorse. Just silence and emptiness. It’s their way of punishing you for seeing through them—for realizing that everything they ever gave you came with conditions, manipulation, and hidden motives.
This isn’t love. This is strategy. This is punishment masked as indifference. And what’s most twisted? They won’t even feel bad about it. In fact, they’ll likely smear your name to others, twist the story, and portray themselves as the victim—because in their mind, the real crime wasn’t what they did to you. The real crime was that you woke up.
They cannot survive around people who see their true face. They cannot handle being exposed. That’s why they always need new supply—people who are still fooled, still eager for their approval, still unable to see the monster behind the charm. You seeing the truth makes you the enemy. Not because you hurt them—but because you saw them, and they cannot afford to be seen.
