The men would call her a firecracker and praise her strong demeanor, saying they loved a woman like her..
Until they realized they, too, couldn’t tame her or make her acquiesce to their wishes.
They’d chase her, woo her and try to impress her with the things that she didn’t care about..
Because they didn’t understand her at all,
And that was fine with her.
They had an agenda that she found amusing and it frustrated them when they realized that she saw past their facades..
She didn’t need a man, love or anyone trying to pretend to be something they weren’t.
She knew all the people that praised her strength didn’t really know what it meant to be strong.
She wasn’t that way because she wanted to be- life had left her no choice..
But she didn’t care about the opinion of those who didn’t know a thing about the fires she’d survived.
That same courage and saucy personality that the weaker men claimed to admire..would be the one thing they could never handle.
She knew who she was and where she was going and all the fake admiration from people with ulterior motives meant nothing to her.
Yes, she was strong..
But she was so much more than that.
She was deep, soulful, loving and passionate in ways the rest of them would never comprehend.
She lived and loved honestly and without regret, for she owned her scars and appreciated her imperfections.
She didn’t have anything to prove to anyone and those that tried to judge her?
She just walked away from them without uttering a word..she was better than that.
She’d never stoop to win the affection of those who didn’t really care about her- only what they could get from her, and she had neither the time nor the patience to deal with those types.
She was happy with the life she chose, and kept her walls high to fend off all the imposters intent on trying to love her in selfish ways.
She’d just keep walking, past the pretenders, the followers and would be lovers..
Smiling, sassing and laughing every step of the way.
She knew they’d never realize just how amazing she truly was..
And until someone came along that did,
She’d just keep shining bright like the diamond she was.
