Some days I wake up and think, “I just need a staycation.”
Then five minutes later I’m like… “Actually, no. I need a vacation.”
And by lunchtime I’ve concluded: “Respectfully, I may need medication.”
Maybe all three. In that order. Or simultaneously.
Because life lately has been doing the absolute MOST.
A staycation sounds cute until you realize you’re still at home with laundry judging you, emails whispering your name, and responsibilities acting like they didn’t hear the word rest. A vacation sounds better—until you remember planning it feels like a second job and your budget is already in a committed relationship with bills.
And medication? Listen. We’re not dramatic. We’re self-aware.
This is what burnout looks like when it puts on lip gloss and shows up smiling. It’s when your to-do list is longer than your patience. When you’re tired of being “strong,” “resilient,” and “handling it” with no breaks and no bonus points.
Here’s the savage truth no one likes to say out loud:
We don’t need more motivation.
We need more rest.
More boundaries.
More naps without guilt.
More days where nothing is required of us except staying alive and hydrated.
Sometimes the real healing plan is:
-
A staycation to stop moving
-
A vacation to remember joy
-
And medication… because the world is loud and your nervous system is TIRED
And no, that doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’ve been carrying too much for too long without a pause.
So if today all you can manage is laughing at this quote, canceling one unnecessary plan, and choosing peace over productivity—congratulations. That’s called self-care with a sense of humor.
And honestly?
That might be the first step toward sanity. 😌🔥
