Here's a little life lesson that gets easier to understand the older you get: Not everyone deserves your time, your energy, or a front-row seat to your life. 💯
And sometimes the biggest mistake we make is expecting people to treat us with the same kindness, honesty, and consideration we give them.
Sounds reasonable, right? Apparently, for some people, that's asking for a miracle. 😂🙄
But here's the thing…
You can't control how people behave. You can't force someone to appreciate you, respect you, or suddenly develop emotional maturity.
And you certainly can't love, explain, or argue someone into becoming a decent human being. 👏
What you CAN control is how much access they have to you.
❤️ Stop expecting honesty from people who have repeatedly shown you otherwise.
❤️ Stop explaining your feelings to people who are committed to misunderstanding them.
❤️ Stop giving unlimited chances to people who treat your forgiveness like a subscription service. 😂
❤️ And stop donating your peace to situations that give you absolutely nothing but stress in return.
Now, don't confuse lowering your expectations with lowering your standards. You can still expect respect, honesty, and kindness. You just don't have to keep entertaining people who refuse to offer them.
Sometimes the most powerful response isn't an argument, a paragraph-long text, or one final attempt to make someone understand.
It's simply removing your attention.
No announcement. No dramatic exit. No 47-slide PowerPoint explaining why you're done. 😂
Just boundaries, a little distance, and the beautiful realization that not everything deserves a reaction.
And trust me, at this age, most people know exactly what they're doing. You don't need to keep volunteering for the consequences of their choices.
Your peace is valuable. Stop handing it out like free samples at Costco! 😂❤️
Protect your energy, keep your standards, and remember…
Sometimes the best way to win is to stop participating in a game you never wanted to play. 😉💯
