The older I get, the more I realize that my energy is valuable, my time is precious, and my patience? Well, let's just say that's becoming a limited-edition item! π€£
Seriously, though. Life is too short to keep pouring yourself into people, situations, and relationships that leave you feeling completely drained.
I've learned that not everybody deserves unlimited access to me. And that doesn't mean I'm being selfish, cold, or difficult. It means I'm finally learning the difference between being a good person and being everybody's emotional support department. π
Give your energy to people who actually show up. Not just when they need something, but when YOU need someone, too.
Have conversations where you can be yourself without worrying about every little word being twisted.
Build relationships where the effort goes both ways. Because let's face it, if you're the only one calling, checking in, apologizing, and making plans, that's not a relationship. That's a one-person customer service department! ππ€£
Chase the dreams that make you excited to get out of bed in the morning.
And most importantly, create a life that actually feels like YOURS. Not one built around keeping everybody else happy while you're quietly running on empty.
Here's the thing about protecting your peace:
You don't have to argue with everyone.
You don't have to explain every boundary.
And you certainly don't have to feel guilty for choosing yourself once in a while.
You can love people and still need space. You can be kind and still say NO. And you can wish someone well without inviting them back into your life.
Your energy is not an all-you-can-eat buffet for people who bring absolutely nothing to the table! ππ
Spend it on good people, genuine connections, meaningful moments, and things that make your heart happy.
Because at the end of the day, peace isn't about having a perfect life. It's about learning what deserves your attention and what deserves absolutely NONE of it.
❤️ Be generous with your love, selective with your energy, and unapologetic about your peace.
π¬ What's one thing you've stopped giving your energy to as you've gotten older?
