💼 WORKPLACE LESSONS THEY DON'T TEACH YOU IN ORIENTATION! 😂☕️

Oh, if only someone had handed me this list when I first started working! Would've saved me a few headaches, some unnecessary stress, and probably a couple of conversations with people who thought their job title made them royalty! 🤣🙄

After years in the workforce, I've learned a few things...

Not every coworker is your friend. Some will cheer you on, some will teach you incredible things, and others will smile in your face while discussing your business the second you leave the room. 🎭

A good manager is worth their weight in gold. A bad one? Well, let's just say some people are excellent examples of what NOT to become! 😂

Document EVERYTHING. Not because you're looking for trouble, but because memories get awfully selective when accountability comes knocking! 📝👀

Know your worth. Being dependable is wonderful, but being the person who does everybody else's job while getting paid for one? That's not a promotion, that's a staffing problem! 🤣

Take your PTO! The company will survive without you for a few days. And if it can't, that's a management issue, not a vacation cancellation! 🌴😂

Keep some things private. You can be friendly without giving everybody a backstage pass to your personal life.

And here's one I feel strongly about...

I NEVER want to be the smartest person in the room. I want to surround myself with people who challenge me, teach me, and help me grow. I've learned so much from incredibly talented coworkers over the years, including a few who unknowingly taught me how NOT to treat people.

But I don't agree with everything on this list. I'm not a bare-minimum kind of person. I believe in doing good work, taking pride in what I do, and giving my best. I just no longer believe that giving your best means sacrificing your peace, health, or self-respect.

And no, you don't automatically need to leave a job after four years. If you're valued, growing, compensated fairly, and happy, there's nothing wrong with staying!

The biggest lesson?

Your career should help you build a LIFE, not become the only life you have. ❤️

Work hard. Stay humble. Keep learning. Protect your peace. And never let a paycheck convince you to tolerate constant disrespect.

Because at the end of the day, your job is what you DO. It's not WHO you are. 💯

Now I'm curious... What's the biggest lesson you've learned from a job or coworker? And don't worry, we don't need names. We're sharing wisdom, not starting an HR investigation! 🤣☕️
