You ever notice how trauma doesn’t always knock on the door yelling “Hey, I’m back!”? Sometimes it just slides in wearing a hoodie and sunglasses like, “Don’t mind me, just ruining your peace again.” 😅
It’s those subtle things — overthinking a text, apologizing too much, being too independent, or feeling weird when things are actually calm — because your nervous system still thinks calm = suspicious. 👀
We joke about it (because humor helps us survive, let’s be honest), but these little quirks are often survival skills we built when we had no choice but to protect ourselves.
The growth comes when we start noticing them… and giving ourselves a little grace instead of guilt. 💗
Because healing isn’t about pretending the trauma never happened — it’s about learning you’re safe now, and you don’t have to live like you’re still in that moment.
So yeah, if you’ve been catching yourself reacting to small things or needing extra space — it’s not weakness, it’s awareness. And that’s step one of becoming your most peaceful self. 🌿
