People may not always tell you how they feel about you—but oh, their actions will host a full TED Talk if you’re paying attention.
Some folks will swear they love, support, respect, and appreciate you... then disappear when you need them, breadcrumb your existence, and treat consistency like it’s an allergy. Bold strategy.
Here’s the truth: words are easy. They’re lightweight. Cheap to produce. Some people hand them out like free samples at the grocery store.
But actions? Actions cost time. Effort. Energy. Intention. That’s why they matter.
If someone says you matter, but only calls when they need something... that’s an action.
If they claim loyalty but vanish when life gets inconvenient... that’s an action.
If they say they care but keep repeating behavior that hurts you... that’s an action wearing a fake mustache.
And before anyone says, “Maybe they’re just bad at expressing themselves...” sure, sometimes. But patterns don’t lie. Repetition is confession.
Pay attention to who shows up.
Who checks in.
Who celebrates you without envy.
Who respects your boundaries without acting personally attacked.
Who gives the same energy they request.
Because mixed signals usually aren’t mixed. They’re clear signals wrapped in your hope.
A little savage truth? Some people count on you ignoring reality so they can keep benefiting from access to you.
Don’t help them.
Believe effort. Believe consistency. Believe patterns. Believe peace when it tells you to step back.
You don’t need to become bitter. Just become observant.
Read actions like a receipt. They list exactly what was purchased—and sometimes it was audacity.
