๐Ÿง€๐Ÿ Thanksgiving Side Dish Alert: Crispy Parmesan Brussels Sprouts & Butternut Squash with Hot Honey Bacon Glaze!

Because Thanksgiving vegetables deserve a little personality too! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฆƒ

Alright, friends, let's talk Thanksgiving side dishes!

We all know the classics. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes… the usual suspects that show up every single year.

But what if I told you we could take two vegetables that don't always get the love they deserve and turn them into something so ridiculously delicious that people actually fight over the last serving?

Yes, I'm talking BRUSSELS SPROUTS and BUTTERNUT SQUASH! ๐Ÿคฃ

Now, before somebody wrinkles their nose and says, "Ewww, Brussels sprouts!" just hear me out!

We're roasting them until they're crispy and caramelized, tossing in smoky bacon, adding a little Parmesan cheese, and finishing everything with a sweet-and-spicy hot honey glaze.

Sweet, salty, smoky, cheesy, crispy, and just a little spicy.

Basically, these vegetables got dressed up for Thanksgiving and decided to show everybody else up! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ›’ Ingredients

Servings: 8 | Prep: 20 minutes | Cook: 30–40 minutes

For the roasted vegetables

  • 1½ pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved

  • 1½ pounds butternut squash, peeled and cubed into ¾-inch pieces

  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ⅓ cup dried cranberries

  • ¼ cup chopped toasted pecans

  • Fresh parsley for garnish

For the hot honey glaze

  • 3 tablespoons honey

  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿณ Let's Get Cooking!

Step 1: Get those veggies ready!

Preheat your oven to 425°F.

Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts and butternut squash with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Spread the vegetables across the baking sheets in a single layer.

Little secret: Place the Brussels sprouts cut-side down. That's how you get those gorgeous crispy, golden edges!

And please don't overcrowd the pan. We're roasting vegetables, not steaming them in a crowded elevator! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Step 2: Bring on the bacon! ๐Ÿฅ“

Cook the chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8–10 minutes.

Transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate.

And yes, you may sample a piece. That's called quality control! ๐Ÿคฃ

Step 3: Roast until golden!

Roast the vegetables for 25–35 minutes, turning the squash halfway through, until the squash is tender and the Brussels sprouts have crispy, browned edges.

During the last 5 minutes, sprinkle the Parmesan over the vegetables and return them to the oven until the cheese is melted and lightly golden.

Your kitchen should be smelling pretty amazing by now!

Step 4: Make the glaze! ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ”ฅ

While the vegetables roast, combine the honey, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, red pepper flakes, and melted butter in a small saucepan.

Warm over low heat for 2–3 minutes, stirring until smooth.

Taste and adjust the spice level.

Want a little kick? Add more red pepper flakes.

Feeding someone who thinks black pepper is spicy? Maybe take it easy! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Step 5: Bring everything together!

Transfer the roasted vegetables to a large serving platter.

Sprinkle the crispy bacon, dried cranberries, and toasted pecans over the top.

Drizzle with that beautiful hot honey glaze.

Finish with fresh parsley and a little extra Parmesan if you're feeling fancy.

And BOOM! Thanksgiving side dish perfection! ๐Ÿงก

๐Ÿ’ก A Few Tips to Make It Even Better

Want it extra crispy? Make sure the vegetables are completely dry before tossing them with oil. Moisture is the enemy of crispy Brussels sprouts!

Don't like spicy food? Skip the red pepper flakes. The honey-maple glaze is still delicious without the heat.

Want to prep ahead? Chop the vegetables, cook the bacon, and prepare the glaze the day before. Refrigerate everything separately, then roast and assemble on Thanksgiving.

Want to make it vegetarian? Leave out the bacon and add extra toasted pecans for crunch.

Serving a crowd? Double the recipe, but use additional baking sheets so everything roasts properly.

❤️ Why This Dish Deserves a Spot at Your Thanksgiving Table

First of all, it's absolutely gorgeous!

The golden butternut squash, crispy green Brussels sprouts, ruby-red cranberries, and crunchy pecans make this look like something straight out of a fancy restaurant.

But the real magic is in the flavor.

The squash brings sweetness, the Brussels sprouts add a delicious roasted flavor, the bacon brings smoky saltiness, and the glaze ties everything together with just the right amount of sweet and spicy.

And those little bursts of tart cranberry?

Oh, they're GOOD!

This dish pairs beautifully with roasted turkey, glazed ham, prime rib, or just about anything else you're serving for the holidays.

Plus, it's a nice change from all those heavy, creamy casseroles.

Although let's not pretend we're eating Brussels sprouts because we're trying to be healthy when we've covered them in bacon, cheese, and honey. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

We're here for the FLAVOR!

๐Ÿฆƒ Let's Settle a Thanksgiving Debate!

Are Brussels sprouts completely underrated, or are you still convinced they're tiny cabbages sent here to ruin dinner? ๐Ÿ˜‚

And tell me this…

Would you try this sweet-and-spicy Thanksgiving side dish, or are you sticking with the traditional favorites?

Drop your answer in the comments! I'd love to hear what everybody's making this Thanksgiving! ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ

Happy cooking, friends! ❤️
