There are friends.
There are good friends.
And then there are the “I need to tell you something, but you have to promise not to judge me…” friends. 😂
The ones who already know there's a story coming because apparently you've never once started a conversation that way and followed it with something completely normal.
I'm lucky enough to have that kind of friendship with Jamie. ❤️
She's my safe place.
The person I can tell the truth to—the pretty truth, the ugly truth, the embarrassing truth and the “Okay, before you say anything, let me explain…” truth. 😂
And that's rare.
Because a real friend doesn't just love the polished version of you.
She knows about the questionable decisions.
The heartbreaks.
The ridiculous stories.
The moments when you absolutely knew better…and proceeded anyway. 🤦♀️😂
She'll tell you when you're right.
She'll tell you when you're wrong.
And occasionally she'll give you that look that says:
“Michelle. Seriously?”
No words required. Message received. 😂
But here's what makes those friendships so special:
There's no competition.
No keeping score.
No secretly enjoying each other's struggles.
No disappearing when life gets messy.
And definitely no taking something you shared in confidence and turning it into tomorrow's neighborhood newsletter.
Some things go to the grave, ladies. We have standards. 😂
It's loyalty.
It's honesty.
It's knowing someone has your back whether you're sitting beside her or you're nowhere in the room.
It's being able to go days—or sometimes longer—without talking and picking right back up like five minutes passed.
It's having someone who knows where the bodies are buried…
figuratively, Jamie. FIGURATIVELY. 😂💀
As we get older, I've realized friendship isn't about having the biggest circle.
It's about knowing who's really standing inside it.
And if you're lucky enough to have even one person you can completely exhale around—someone who knows the real you and loves you anyway—you've got something pretty damn special.
I'm lucky enough to have mine.
Love you, Jamie. ❤️
And thanks for knowing entirely too much about me to ever be allowed to leave. 😂❤️
