🎃 The Haunted Char-CUTE-rie Board: A Halloween Party Platter That's Dying to Be Eaten

Let's be honest.

Halloween food has two jobs:

1. Taste delicious.
2. Look just creepy enough that everyone starts taking pictures before they eat it.

Because apparently, in 2026, we can't simply eat food anymore. We have to photograph it from 17 different angles first. 😂

Enter the Haunted Char-CUTE-rie Board.

It's part cheese board, part Halloween centerpiece, and part excuse to buy approximately 14 things you absolutely did not need at the grocery store.

And I'm okay with all three.

This spooky little spread is perfect for Halloween parties, girls' night, game night, trick-or-treating gatherings, or anytime you want to put out something that makes people say:

“Wait… YOU made this?!”

Yes, Karen. We did.

And we're not even going to tell them how easy it was.

👻 The Star of the Show: Mummy Brie

Every haunted charcuterie board needs a centerpiece, and this one is ridiculously cute.

Take a wheel of Brie, wrap it in thin strips of puff pastry, bake it until golden and gooey, then give your little cheese mummy two candy eyes.

That's it.

Suddenly you've gone from:

“I brought cheese.”

to:

“I created an edible Halloween masterpiece.”

You're welcome.

🧀 Mummy Brie Ingredients

  • 1 small wheel of Brie
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 small edible candy eyes
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Fresh rosemary, optional
  • Crackers, toasted baguette slices or apple slices for serving

👻 How to Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Place the Brie on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Cut the puff pastry into thin strips.
  4. Wrap the strips loosely across the Brie, leaving small spaces between them so it resembles mummy bandages.
  5. Brush the pastry with beaten egg.
  6. Bake for approximately 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is beautifully golden and the Brie is soft and gooey.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes.
  8. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  9. Add the candy eyes.
  10. Try not to immediately eat half of it while assembling the rest of the board.

That last step is the hardest one.

🦇 Now Build the Haunted Board

You don't need to follow this exactly. That's the beauty of a charcuterie board.

Think colors, textures and shapes.

And Halloween gives you permission to get a little ridiculous.

🧀 The Cheese

Choose 3–4 cheeses with different flavors and colors.

Try:

  • Sharp cheddar
  • Gouda
  • Pepper Jack
  • Goat cheese
  • Brie
  • Camembert

Use a small Halloween cookie cutter to cut some cheddar or Gouda into bats, pumpkins or ghosts.

Because regular cheese cubes are perfectly acceptable.

But bat cheese?

Bat cheese wins.

👻 The Ghost Mozzarella

Grab some fresh mozzarella and cut it into rough little ghost shapes.

Don't stress about perfection.

Honestly, slightly wonky ghosts are better.

Give them tiny eyes with pieces of black olive.

Now they're adorable.

And possibly judging your life choices.

🕷️ The Spider Eggs

Make your favorite deviled eggs and turn them into creepy little spiders.

Slice black olives into:

  • One large piece for the spider body
  • Thin strips for the legs

Place the olive spider on top of each deviled egg.

Suddenly deviled eggs have entered their villain era.

🍇 Monster Grapes

Green grapes are perfect for this because they're already Halloween-colored.

Pile them into a little section of the board and add tiny edible candy eyes.

If you want them to stay in place, use the tiniest dab of icing or melted chocolate.

And yes, people will absolutely eat them.

After taking pictures first, obviously.

🩸 The "Blood" Bowl

Here's where things get dramatic.

Put some raspberry or strawberry preserves into a small bowl.

Then use the back of a spoon to create a little smear of jam down the side of the bowl.

Congratulations.

You now have blood.

It's basically just fruit spread, but we're going with the story.

Serve it alongside the Brie or goat cheese.

🦴 Something Crunchy

Add a few Halloween-themed crackers if you can find them.

Bone-shaped crackers?

Perfect.

Pretzel sticks?

Also perfect.

Breadsticks?

Arrange them like little bones.

Nobody needs to know you bought them at the grocery store.

We're not handing out résumés here.

🪦 The Sweet & Creepy Corner

Every good Halloween board needs a little something sweet.

Add:

  • Chocolate-covered pretzels
  • Brownie bites
  • Chocolate sandwich cookies
  • Candy corn
  • Dark chocolate pieces
  • Dried apricots
  • Chocolate-covered raisins

You can even make a tiny “graveyard” using brownie bites or chocolate cookies.

Break a cookie in half and stick it into the brownie like a little tombstone.

If you want to go all in, write:

RIP

on a few cookies using melted white chocolate.

🐍 Add Something Creepy

This is where you can have fun with the arrangement.

Create a little winding trail of black and green olives through the board.

Make it look like a snake.

Or use cucumber slices.

Or grapes.

Or whatever you have sitting in your refrigerator that looks vaguely suspicious.

Halloween is forgiving.

🎃 How to Assemble Your Board

Start with your Mummy Brie in the center.

Then build outward.

Place larger items first:

Brie → cheeses → meats → bowls → fruit → crackers → sweets → little creepy details.

Don't make everything perfectly organized.

A little chaos actually makes it look better.

Fill in the empty spaces with:

  • Grapes
  • Olives
  • Nuts
  • Dried fruit
  • Crackers
  • Chocolate
  • Candy

The secret to a beautiful charcuterie board?

Don't leave big empty spaces.

If you see a gap, fill it.

If you see another gap, fill that too.

If you run out of food...

Well, congratulations.

You made a grazing board.

🎃 A Few Easy Halloween Upgrades

Want to make yours extra festive?

Try these:

🕸️ Spider web: Pipe softened goat cheese into a little web pattern.

🦇 Bat bites: Cut cheese into bat shapes and pair them with crackers.

👻 Ghost fruit: Use a small cookie cutter to cut melon or pineapple into ghost shapes.

🎃 Mini pumpkins: Add little mandarin oranges and draw tiny jack-o'-lantern faces on the peel with an edible marker.

🧛 Vampire vibes: Pair dark berries with red jam for a dramatic color combination.

🪦 Graveyard dip: Put hummus or spinach dip in a shallow bowl and add little cracker “tombstones.”

🧙‍♀️ The Best Part?

There really isn't a wrong way to make this.

That's why I love Halloween charcuterie boards.

You can make them elegant.

You can make them creepy.

You can make them kid-friendly.

Or you can throw a bunch of cheese, grapes and chocolate on a tray at 4:58 p.m. before everyone arrives and call it “rustic.”

Nobody has to know.

😂

The goal isn't perfection.

The goal is creating something fun that makes people want to gather around the table, grab a bite, laugh, and maybe stay a little longer.

And honestly?

Those are usually the best parties anyway.

So grab the Brie, summon your inner Halloween hostess, and build yourself a board that's just the right amount of spooky.

Because life's too short for boring appetizers.

🎃 Happy Haunting & Happy Snacking! 👻
