1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
3 tablespoons sugar
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 store-bought angel food cake, cut into cubes

In a mixing bowl, combine strawberries and sugar. Set aside for 20 minutes, allowing strawberries to release their juices.
In another mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
In a trifle bowl or large glass dish, layer half of the angel food cake cubes at the bottom.
Spoon half of the strawberries and their juice over the cake layer.
Spread half of the whipped cream over the strawberries.
Repeat the layers: add the remaining cake cubes, strawberries, and top with the remaining whipped cream.
Garnish with fresh mint leaves.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
