🍲 Chicken Cordon Bleu Soup with Heavy Cream and Ham 🍲
A creamy, savory soup inspired by the flavors of classic chicken cordon bleu, featuring tender chicken, smoky ham, Swiss cheese, and a rich cream base.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb chicken breast, diced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups diced ham
4 cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp ground mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
Cook the Chicken:
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Season the diced chicken with salt and pepper, then add to the pot. Cook until the chicken is golden and fully cooked. Remove the chicken and set aside.
Sauté the Aromatics:
In the same pot, add the diced onion and cook for 4-5 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Add Ham and Broth:
Add the diced ham to the pot, stirring to combine. Pour in the chicken broth, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
Make it Creamy:
Lower the heat to medium-low and add the heavy cream. Gradually add the Swiss and Parmesan cheese, stirring constantly until melted and the soup is smooth.
Combine and Season:
Add the cooked chicken back to the pot and stir to incorporate. Season with salt, pepper, and ground mustard, if using, to taste. Simmer for 5-7 minutes to let flavors meld.
Serve:
Ladle into bowls and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve with crusty bread for a complete meal!
Enjoy your rich and creamy Chicken Cordon Bleu Soup! 🍲
